I’ve struggled with my skin for years and years, too-ed and frow-ed over different products and what would work best for my skin. My skin is normal- to oily, so I need to keep a balance with what I put on my face. From the products that dried my skin out to the point where I could have been part reptile, to others that just did not agree with my skin, I think I may have finally cracked it. So grab a cup of tea, get cosy, and have a read of my current skin care favourites!

1. Dr Organic Tea Tree Face Wash

I always start my day with this and it’s a complete saviour. This face wash is perfect if you have normal-oily skin or are prone to breakouts. Its super gentle on the skin, smells refreshing, and leaves skin feeling clean with a slight tingle from the anti bacterial ingredients. I’ve been at my wits end in the past switching from face washes to wipes (yepp sorry pre-teen skin!), but I’ve finally settled on this one. What I love most about this organic wash is that unlike many it doesn’t dry the skin out, plus I can have a tube of this sat on my sink for 2+ months because very little needs to be used per wash, making it more than worth the money.

2. Darphin Skin Mattifying Lotion

I’ll be the first to admit that up until about 4 months ago, I did not use a moisturiser at all (I know, the horror). I thought because I have acne and oily skin that adding moisturiser to that would only make it worse. Wrong. If anything, not using a moisturiser was making my skin produce more oil to compensate for the lack of moisture I wasn’t giving it.

So the search for the newest recruit to my skin care gang began. For me the moisturiser had to be non-oily, lightweight, and hydrating without being overkill. Darphin’s lotion has got the balance perfectly with ingredients like, algae extract, Oubaku Liquorice, and Vitamin E; it mattifies the skin, helps to reduce the oil content causing shine, and hydrates any dry areas.

If you’re looking for a fuss free moisturiser that feels comfortable on the skin and leaves it feeling that ‘I just shaved my legs, feel them!’ smooth, this one’s for you.

3. Darphin Skin Mat Clay Mask

This is a fairly new addition to my skin care routine, but it’s becoming a firm favourite. My skin is pretty prone to break outs so a clay mask is perfect for it, as it draws out any hidden beasts and leaves my skin feeling pro facial smooth. The mask contains lavender and lemon essential oils which I have found are really working for my skin. I use this twice a week and leave it on for the recommended time of 10 minutes. Not only does it help to clear stubborn spots, but also leaves you feeling glowing and freshly pampered.

4. Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush

This is by far my favourite of all the products I use throughout my skin routine. Whilst this product is an oldy now it is still very much a goody. Clinique’s Cleansing brush is powered by sonic movements and uses a dual bristle brush. The idea behind the dual fibre brush is very clever. The lighter bristles can be used on more sensitive areas like your cheeks, and the darker bristles on oily-stubborn areas like the t-zone. It is super good at cleaning the skin; it removes any stubborn dirt or impurities and leaves it feeling clean and healthy. I always remove my make up with a wash before I use my cleansing brush. Despite its intense clean I can safely say that this product does not dry out the skin, but creates a nice base for your after care products to sink into.

Another bonus, this product hardly ever needs charging. I use mine everyday and get about 3 months use out of it before it needs to be recharged. Whilst both the brush and charger are travel friendly are, chances are you won’t really ever have to take your charger with you.  Perfect.

5. Darphin Blemish Clearing Gel

In all honesty I’ve never been one for blemish gels, but because of how impressed I have been with other products from the Darphin range, I thought I would give it a go. What I really like about this product is that it is ‘invisible’, so once you have applied the clear gel it sinks nicely into the skin and you can apply your make up as normal. Much like most of Darphine’s products it aims to mattify the skin, and reduce any lurking excess oil. The formula aims to dry and reduce blemishes, while soothing the skin to prevent further breakouts. I have found it is very good at drying spots out, but I think I need to use it a little while longer to see if it can reduce my break outs. I use the gel twice a day after I have cleansed my face.

6. Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub

I don’t think I’m alone in my love for Lush lip scrubs; everyone I know seems to love them! This is the second scrub I have tried; I previously used Popcorn and absolutely loved it but wanted to try the other ‘flavours’.  During a trip to London I chucked this straight in my basket, along with half of Lush because a girls got to stock up right? Plus I think they’re pretty affordable because they last months without it look as though you have used any.

This scrub smells and tastes insanely good (trust me, you’ll want to just lick it all off). The scrub is made with exfoliating Caster Sugar to help scrub away dead skin, and Organic Jojoba Oil to moisturise and prep lips. I use this product morning and night, particularly during the colder months because chapped lips become an everyday occurrence.

I apply a small amount to my finger and buff it into my lips in circular motions to get rid of any dead skin, and get the blood flowing to give my lips a slightly plumper look. I’m so happy this has become a regular part of my routine; it makes my lips feel silky soft, and perfectly prepped for applying lipstick. The only problem is I NEED all the other flavours now!
